2026 Green Special Steel Certification Standard | Recycled Carbon Accounting Upgrade

China Iron and Steel Association officially released the upgraded 2026 green special steel industry certification standards, focusing on optimizing and iterating the full-cycle carbon accounting rules for recycled steel materials. The new standard  breaks the previous single carbon emission evaluation mode, builds a multi-dimensional assessment system covering recycled material proportion, energy consumption per ton of steel, carbon footprint traceability and green process level, and raises higher  standardized thresholds for the green certification of high-end alloy steel and stainless steel.

In view of the increasingly stringent global green supply chain audit and EU CBAM carbon tariff verification requirements, the new standard standardizes the carbon data statistical caliber of recycled special steel, unifies the full life cycle carbon footprint calculation method from raw material recycling, smelting and rolling to finished product delivery, and solves the problems of inconsistent industry carbon data and difficult cross-border identification in the past. Certified green recycled steel will have authoritative carbon qualification advantages in international trade, effectively reducing carbon tariff costs and supply chain audit risks.
